The Krokbragd Table Runner showcases the bold, richly patterned look of traditional Scandinavian weft‑faced weaving, where the warp is completely hidden beneath dense, colourful weft. As the pattern explains, “Krokbragd is a traditional weft-faced Scandinavian weaving technique where no warp threads show in the finished cloth.” This structure produces a sturdy, beautifully textured fabric that is ideal for tableware and home décor.
 
This design is inspired by the intricate shell markings of the Shetland sea urchin known locally as Scabby Man’s Head, giving the runner a striking geometric rhythm and a strong sense of place. Woven in Jamieson’s of Shetland wool, the project uses a vibrant palette of Stonewash, Aqua, White, Daffodil, Lichen, and Heron to create a lively, contemporary interpretation of a heritage technique.
The pattern is suitable for rigid‑heddle weavers and shaft‑loom weavers alike. Clear instructions guide you through preparing pick‑up sticks, working the three‑pick Krokbragd sequence, managing selvedges, and finishing the dense, durable cloth.
