Description The Creely Cushion is a bold and contemporary weaving project inspired by the colourful lobster creels stacked along the shore at Whalsay Harbour in Shetland. Using deflected double weave on an 8-shaft loom, the design combines strong geometric forms with organic movement, creating a richly textured fabric full of depth and visual interest. A palette of warm blues, greens, and soft pinks reflects the colours of the Shetland landscape, resulting in a striking cushion that feels both modern and timeless. 

Designed by Emma Geddes of Aamos Designs, this project showcases how traditional weaving techniques can be reimagined through contemporary colour and pattern. The layered structure creates beautiful areas of texture and movement while remaining enjoyable to weave for those with some multi-shaft experience.

The pattern includes detailed instructions for weaving the fabric, wet finishing, inserting a concealed zip, and sewing the completed cushion cover. Woven in Jamieson's of Shetland Spindrift yarn, the finished cushion is a beautiful statement piece that celebrates Shetland's rich textile heritage and coastal inspiration.
