Description The Krokbragd Table Runner is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Scandinavian weaving technique. Inspired by the intricate markings found on the shell of the sea urchin, known locally in Shetland as Scabby Man's Head, this design combines bold geometric patterning with a rich palette of coastal colours.
Designed by Emma Geddes of Aamos Designs, this project introduces the traditional art of Krokbragd weaving using a rigid heddle loom, while also being suitable for multi-shaft and tapestry looms. The weft-faced structure creates a dense, durable fabric with beautiful bands of colour and texture, making it an ideal project for creating a striking table runner.
The pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions for setting up pick-up sticks, weaving the Krokbragd structure, and finishing the completed runner. Woven in Jamieson's of Shetland yarn, the finished piece celebrates both Scandinavian weaving traditions and the colours and textures of the Shetland coastline.
